Eradicating alligators, scorpions, and snakes - Alligators, scorpions, and snakes can all cause fatal injuries. Although death isn't common, debilitating injuries are more frequent, especially by snakes. Will work on policies to decrease the populations of these animals. Eradication can potentially help increase tourism. Mechanized traps can be designed and installed in certain regions. Will work on the details of the eradication plans with locals. Will create alligator zoos.
Eliminate Tire Pressure Monitoring System - Tire pressure monitoring systems in cars began being required in 2008, in order to help prevent accidents due to under-inflated tires. These systems however, are expensive, having to be replaced every 5-10 years and costing 500-1500 dollars to do so, depending on the cost of labor. Oftentimes, they get damaged earlier and have to be replaced, further increasing costs. A less expensive solution would be to have free tire inflators at every gas pump, so while filling the car with gas, you can also inflate the tires.
UN Refugee Agency - In order to better respond to refugee crises, Will work with U.N. on creating a refugee city list, which will list all cities in the world that are open to accepting refugees, as well as have language and nationality demographics of each city in order to better find homes for refugees.
Famine Relief - The UN currently has 5 Humanitarian Response Depots located around the world for emergency response. More depots could potentially be opened for faster response. Increasing domestic food production and creating a food surplus that can be distributed and sold in famine-affected areas is another potential solution. An examination of how many people are affected by famines yearly, and how much food is needed and how much it costs to cover the deficit could be made.
Native American Relief - Native Americans deal with various inequalities in their standard of living.
• Native Americans on Reservations Lack Running Water at a 3.7-19 times Higher Rate.1
• Native American Reservations Lack Electricity at a 10 times Higher Rate.2
• Native American Farms produce yields at 1/6th of the Rate.3
• Native Americans experience Poverty at Higher Rates.4
• Native Americans commit Suicide at Twice the Rate.5
• Native Americans Overdose on opioids at nearly Twice the Rate.6
• Native Americans grow up in Single Parent Families at a 2-3 times Higher Rate.7
To resolve these issues, several steps can be taken, including installing solar panels for electricity, digging groundwells, and providing farm training and supplies. In areas where there this no groundwater, further examination of the issue would have to be made.
Border Policy - Borders affect immigration, drug smuggling, and human trafficking. If borders were completely open immigration would become unsustainable as the amount of people who want to be immigrate to the United States is much higher than those who want immigrate away from the United States. This mainly has to do with global inequality, and the United States being a richer country. In time, as global inequality decreases, pressure on U.S. borders won't be as high, and open borders may become a possibility. Illlegal immigration mainly occurs cross the southern border, or when people foreigners overstay their temporary. Borders also affect drug trafficking. The most common way drugs are brought into the United States is across the southern border. Drugs also enter by boat, and air as well. Human trafficking often occurs across the southern border, as well as when temporary visas expire.
In order to increase the tightness of border policing, several steps can be taken. One, the southern border could be completely shut down for crossing with exceptions for truckers, and immigrants with new visas who are moving to the United States. Every truck could be searched, and a fee will be charged for crossing the border. This will have a significant impact on cross border workers, and border cities. In order to soften the impact, workers can be put on temporary welfare, and stimulus packages for the Mexican border cities can be funded that include construction and free college. Ideally, the Mexican government can take over the funding in time. The second policy to tighten policing is to limit temporary visas, possibly by increasing qualifications, making them strictly for business-related visits, or strictly for tourists from rich countries. Further policing of drug importation would have to be done for maritime and airplane trafficking. Ideally, ships could be searched while they are at sea so as not to slow down transportation time.
Intercontinental Train System - My biggest infrastructure vision is for an Intercontinental Train System. This train will cross the baring strait, and be able to travel from South Africa to South America in 4 days or less. The train will be 100 ft wide and designed in the maglev model, which maximizes speed and safety. All trips will be direct non-stop. In order to do this each car will have an engine of its own, and cars will be able to detach and reattach while moving. This way passengers can get on one car, and that car will then connect to a main track where it will attach to the front or back of a group of cars. Once attached, passengers can move to a car that is going to their final destination. Passengers may have to move multiple times if they are going long distance. Some cars will be dedicated to sleeping and entertainment and will essentially be permanently attached to the group of cars in the middle of the train. Entertainment sections may have swimming pools and movie theatres. People traveling long distance can move to sleeper cars before eventually switching to a normal passenger car once they're near their final destination. A computer system can notify people via text when they need to move from one car to another in order to keep everything organized and maximize capacity.
The train will also be designed for transporting goods. The plan is to have the bottom of the train have detachable semi-truck trailers. Essentially once a train car stops at its destination a semi truck can pull up underneath the train and trailers will detach from the train and attach to the back of a semi. Other semis can then pull up and attach their trailers onto the train. Once a car is attached to the main track and a group of cars, there would have to be some method for the trailers on the bottom to move to another car that is going it's final destination, other wise separate cars would have to be used to transport products. The train will be built on the outskirts of current cities in the interior of the country. Industrial areas and factories can be built around the train stops in order to maximize the efficiency of loading.
Hurricane Mitigation - Hurricanes are caused when the warm surface water begins evaporating, creating large clouds that eventually form hurricanes. Hurricanes can potentially be stopped with the use of technology known as bubble curtains. How bubble curtains work is that they bring cold water to the surface with the use of bubbles. If bubble curtains were placed north of islands such as Anguilla, and south between Guadeloupe and Grenada, hurricanes could possibly be stopped. Buoys could even be set up in the middle of the ocean with chains that have bubble curtains hanging below them underwater.
Boring Holes for Water Distribution - Holes could be bored underground from the ocean inland bringing in ocean water. If GMO seeds were created that can grow in salt water, this water could be used for farming. Holes could be bored from fresh rivers to depleted aquifers as well.
Make Non Dissolving Gum Illegal - Non dissolving gum makes are sidewalks look ugly and can get on your shoes, especially when it's a hot day. Will look into the different options for gum and possibly make restrictions as far as what can be sold.
Making Internet Videos Ads illegal - Video ads on webpages, whether they are pop up or part of the pages design will be banned, as they slow down bandwidth and freeze computers. This will not apply to youtube ads.
Mississippi River Devolopment - Will work to further stop flooding. Will work to bore holes from the Mississippi and other feeding rivers into depleted aquifers.
